Platform for Engagement
A core objective of the Somalia NGO Consortium is to promote and maintain a networked, informed and well functioning NGO community able to implement the best possible work in Somalia. The Consortium activities are guided by its mission and mandate to create a conducive working environment for members to deliver humanitarian and development assistance for all Somali people.
The Consortium provides fora and platforms for agencies operating in Somalia, as well as various external stakeholders including donors, UN agencies and governments; thereby promoting and facilitating coordination of various initiatives and activities for and by its members.
Through its coordination role, the Consortium encourages focused engagement on thematic issues and has created working group platforms for meetings and discussions on Somalia programming among its membership and with key external actors.
The Consortium also convenes regular coordination meetings between the membership and other key stakeholders including OCHA, the Humanitarian and Resident Coordinator, the Deputy SRSG, donors among others.
SNC endeavors to be an effective network and active participation of the membership forms the foundation for the Consortium to achieve its objectives
